Meet the Team

Alan MacPherson

Senior Client Manager

A large part of my career has been spent advising businesses and individuals on UK tax, expatriate tax, and international tax. Firstly, with Coopers and Lybrand / PricewaterhouseCoopers and latterly with smaller accountancy practices. Over the last few years however as client expectations have changed, I have also been advising small to medium sized businesses on how to develop and grow.

To be able to give the necessary advice there must be a partnership between the business owner(s) and their advisers. Owners are passionate about their business, and my passion is to help them make their business a success.

Outside of work I enjoy gym workouts, mountain biking and travelling.

Customer Care is vital to Carnegie Knox and this plays an important part of my role in addition to overseeing all aspects of client administration and workflow. I am passionate about providing a professional and first class service to all our clients.

I have worked in the Oil and Gas Sector, for Shell in Aberdeen and BP in Glasgow, before joining the accountancy world giving me a wide range of skills.

Out with work I am a Mum to three children and enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

Client Manager

I have worked in local government in the United Kingdom, in industry in Canada and Africa, and now in practice with Carnegie Knox. This has given me both experience of how businesses operate in practice and what owners expect from their accountants.

My wife and I have settled in Inverurie which for us is now home.

Outside work I enjoy gym workouts, swimming and travelling.

Client Manager

Working in practice has enabled me to obtain experience across different business sectors.

Since joining Carnegie Knox I have been responsible for overseeing the accounts team to ensure we deliver the best for our clients on a day to day basis.  Having been promoted to a client manager role earlier this year, I still balance my time supervising the accounts team whilst focusing on adding value to each of our clients, proactively working to ensure we are not just preparing your annual accounts.

At Carnegie Knox, we have a great team and network in place to help meet client needs and the demands of running a successful business.

I am a member of the local Banchory Golf Club and can be found there regularly on a Saturday afternoon.  I also enjoying following a variety of different Motorsports, particularly Formula 1, and travelling to different parts of the world.

Business Development Manager

The accountancy profession has changed over the last few years and when working with clients a closer more holistic approach is needed more than has been the case in the past.

I have worked in banking my whole career before joining Carnegie Knox. This experience has given me the necessary networking skills and relationship practices to provide what I believe are the necessary services and contacts to both individuals and businesses in and around the North East of Scotland to help their business to succeed.

Outside of work I like to spend time with my family and friends and I am a keen Aberdeen Football fan.
